Our counselors assist in fulfilling our mission statement by helping all students set and meet goals academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially.

Individual Counseling

Students can see the counselor and work with him or her for a variety of reasons including anxiety, organization, study skills, friendship problems, coping with stress, self-control, grief and loss, and issues related to self-esteem and divorce/separation. A teacher or parent may refer a student to the counselor at any time.

Small Group

Small group counseling is provided based upon the needs of the students. The counselor will assess these needs based upon referrals from teachers and parents throughout the school year. Topics for small groups might include study skills, anger management, and social skills.

Classroom Lessons

Our counselors teach lessons in kindergarten through 5th grade every other week, and 6th through 8th grade weekly. Some topics include listening skills, friendship, feelings, social skills, safety, character traits, and our Education in Virtue Program.

The Education in Virtue program was developed by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, and is based on St. Thomas Aquinas’ teachings on the virtues and gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Through this program, we introduce a new virtue every month to the students and offer opportunities for the student body to practice those virtues.  For more information on the Education in Virtue program, please see their website here.
