The Community and Social Committee includes the following:
Baking Committee
Volunteers provide baked goods for various school functions throughout the school year. This committee is great for those who want to volunteer but are not able to be at school during the day.
Beautification
Volunteers work together in the planning and implementation of grounds improvements to make St. Mark a beautiful site.
Bingo Night
Volunteers are needed to coordinate this fall, family, fun night, event that includes playing bingo for prizes, raffles and pizza. Committee members share the following activities: sell cards, call numbers, obtain and disburse prizes, serve pizza and drinks, set up and clean up.
Decorating Committee
Volunteers provide seasonal decorating, as well as hallway and bulletin board decorating, that highlight teachers and classes throughout the year.
End of Year Party
This annual event celebrates the end of the school year with a social for the entire St. Mark School family to enjoy. Last year's “Beach Theme” was a huge success with activities that included carnival games, a cake walk, karaoke and many athletic activities. Committee members will organize and coordinate this event.
Hospitality
Volunteers will help organize and serve refreshments at various school functions throughout the year such as the Fall and Spring Band concerts, musical performances, Carols in the Courtyard in December and others.
Ice Cream Social
At this “Welcome Back to School” event, committee members help students build their own sundaes during all lunch periods, soon after school starts.
Meals for the Teacher Conferences
Volunteers help coordinate and prepare meals and snacks for the teachers during the day and evening of parent/teacher conferences. Conferences are held at the end of the first quarter of the school year.
Open House and Tours
Volunteers help organize and give tours of St. Mark to prospective families during the MACS Open House at St. Mark in October and throughout the school year.
Casino Night
This fun, adult-only social evening features Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Poker and Plinko. Gamers play for casino chips that can be traded in for raffle tickets and a chance to win items from a huge selection of prizes. Volunteers coordinate the date, organize the casino event company, the banquet facility, prize donations, set up and clean up for this event.
School Walk for Diabetes
Volunteers organize and run this annual, service project that is an educational, fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. In addition to walking laps, children learn the value of good nutrition and exercise, while raising funds to support summer camps for children with diabetes. Last year, St. Mark raised over $30,000.
