8th Grade Newsletter
Thursday, September 4

Murder on the Orient Express  The eighth grade students will begin reading the Agatha Christie novel Murder on the Orient Express at the end of this month.  Please be sure your child has a copy to use in class by Thursday, September 25th.  Miss Guy has several available to borrow.  They will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis, so be sure to ask early.

DC Trip Please contact Mrs. LaPietra with any questions regarding our 8th grade trip.  Please note that the registration deadline for WorldStrides is October 3rd.

Trip Fundraiser Students will continue to sell the Attraction Guides as a fundraising effort until September 24th.  Please forward all monies and unsold books to the office by this date.

Adoration will begin on Tuesday, September 9.  Adoration will be held at school the second Tuesday of every month for the remainder of the year.  The 8th graders are the perpetual adorers.  Be sure to ask your child about their time with Christ. We also spend every Friday as a religion class in Adoration at the church chapel.  We would love to have you join us!!!!

Mass Readings We pre-read and discuss the Sunday Mass readings every Thursday in religion.  We encourage you to talk to your child about the readings either before Mass or after you have attended.

CCHS Football We have contacted the school about attending a game.  When we get finalized dates we will send permission slips home.

Algebra Please note that the textbooks have excellent resources on their websites.  Your child received expectation guidelines for math class that has the information on it.  The site is also listed on the front of the textbook.  I encourage you to visit the site with your child.

8th Grade T-shirts The kids have voted and t-shirt order forms will be forthcoming.  The color chosen is red and the quote is “Everything is possible for him who believes.”
It looks as though the price will remain the same as last year at $13.

Español  We are quickly moving through Español this year.  To aid your child in comprehension, please ensure that your child is completing each homework assignment.  I also encourage you to take a moment to view our online resources for our textbook at www.classzone.com.  This website provides students with many wonderful opportunities for support, practice, and instruction.
